Photo Essay of Auburn Gallipoli Mosque
Here are a series of unedited photographs I took for my Visual Sociology class as part of a photo essay. An amazing and peaceful place during Asr (mid afternoon prayer) Alhamdulilah.
Incredible architecture inspired by the Ottoman empire
Majestic and Ornate: Superior hand-painted Islamic calligraphy on the Mosque walls
Curious and curiouser
Head to the floor - Man is in his most vulnerable position, in 'Sujud' (Arabic word for prostration) towards his Creator.
Acres and acres of red prayer rugs imported from Turkey.
Man bows down in 'ruku' (Arabic word also meaning prostration), showing reverence to the Creator
"Read! In the name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists)"
Little guy running around with a 'tasbih' (Arabic word for Islamic prayer beads)
Ostrich egg placed in the middle chandelier of the mosque to repel spider webs - who would of thought spiders wouldn't like Ostrich eggs?
